More Poker
12.29.04 (10:05 pm)   [edit]

So I played in another little tournament tonight.....did much better this time.  Finished 4th place out of 10.....just out of the money.  I went up big, then just tried to stay calm where I was at while all the rest of the guys were building up their stacks.  So this leads me to mentioning the 2nd Cornelius Invitational.  Saturday January 22, 2005.  We we'll try to start around 6:30-7:00.  Last names A-M please bring something to drink, N-Z please bring something to snack on.  Snack snack snackaroo.

I got alot of errands done today.  Ran my car through DEQ and somehow passed.  Then ran out to PCC to return a library book, then out to the DMV to get new stickers on my plates.  I was there, so I decided to opt for the Crater Lake plates.  I'll be sporting those soon.  After all that I had some time to go do some shopping that I probably shouldn't have.

I was offered a job at GP Moto last night.  After all this time of me wanting a position there....nearly 2 years....I am offered, and I have to think about it.  I am leaning towards the side that I'm going to take it, and take another leave of absense from Wells Fargo.  This way if things dont work out I'm covered, and I can also remain on my health benefits until they come up with something at GP Moto.  This is a huge opportunity that I have to take part in something big.  Any input from you out thre would be great.

With these jobs and school, I think I'm not going to be able to coach this year.  I wanted to but I just dont things are going to pan out, especially if I take this new position.

Well I think that's a good enough post for now.  Please let m know your input and also if you'll be attending the poker night.

1 Down
12.21.04 (8:27 pm)   [edit]

Well the tim has come for me to end my run at the grill.  Yes it was fun, but it was just getting to be too much for me, so I'm no longer there.

Got all of my grades back today and I passed everything.  Yay me.  3.07 GPA, good enough for me.  And Wells Fargo for that matter as I'll be getting all of my tuition costs back.  YAHOO!!!

I've been playing Madden 2005 lately.  I just started a season as the Colts.  Played the season opener against the Patriots and started off kicking there butt, then they took the lead with about 2 minutes left.  I then started to drive the field down by 4 and......INTERCEPTION.  Punks.  But I forced them 3 and out and used all my timeouts.  I then drove the field again.....80 yards in the final 46 seconds and finished with a nice 36 yard touhdown pass with 3 seconds to spare.  Like any of you care.

Tournament Over!
12.17.04 (10:49 pm)   [edit]

Well, the poker tournament didn't go so bad.  8 guys playing.  Big baller Caz takes home the jackpot of $120.  I however did not do so good.  I was "that guy" who walks first.  I did however have the time to play some Need fo Speed Underground 2, and also take up a side game with the next 2 guys that got taken out.  From those guys I sis end up winning all my money back.  So I break even for the night, which is better than the 3rd place guy can say.  Here is a pic of the final hand.  All 3 guys go all in and Caz wins it with 3 Queens, 2 in the pocket.  Apparently he had been pulling pocket pairs all night long.  What a punk!

Food Groups.....
12.17.04 (10:50 am)   [edit]
What if the food groups were PB&J, Spaghetti O's, Funyuns, and Pepsi?  I'll tell you what, I'd be sittin pretty good!

DONE!
12.15.04 (5:49 pm)   [edit]

Finished my finals today.....it's about time.  I think they went well.  Good enough to pass the classes at least.  I also bought my books for next term.  Figured that since everybody is seling their books back right now, it's the best time to try and pick up on the used ones.  Of course the only used one I was able to get was for my writing class.  BUT it's the same book I had for a writing class in the past, just a newer edition.  I'm going to look through them and see if they are pretty similar, and if so, I'll just take the new one back.  That would be sweet, then I get out of books for this term for only about $100 for 4 classes.

Got a cal from the varsity coach again today.  He wants me to be the head freshman coach.  I told him I'll have to take a look into some things to see if I'll be able to do it or not.  I really want to though.  since I'm thinking about quitting at the grill, I may be able to still work part time and go to school just part time, and that way I may be abl to free up some time to coach.  We'll see.....

Poker tournament is still on for this Friday night.....SATHER, let me know if you're coming and I'll make sure to save you a spot.  We could end up having a pretty nice turnout.

Thats it for now.  I finally get the chance to catch up on some things that I need to do.  I was at work today creating a list of things and I came up with around 15 or so.

Finals Week
12.12.04 (9:53 pm)   [edit]

Well Finals week has arrived.  It's been a fun term so far.  I planned my next term and am going to go with alot of the same teachers, one of them twice.  So I still have yet to ask out the girl from English class, and......tomorrow is the last class.  So I checked with the Vegas odds makers and they're putting more money on the Cubs winning the series than they are on me.  Hmmm....

I'm thinking about quitting at the grill.  I've done my time there, got an idea of how the business runs and realize that it may not be the best area to go into.  I was wanting to open my own place, but had never worked in one before.  Now I know.

I'm still chipping away at my buddy Sean tryin to get a job out at GP Moto.  Heck, I've been asking him for over a year now.  One of these days, I can feel it.  Check out his stuff.....www.gpmototech.com

Here are some pics from the track day!

Anybody up for some Texas Hold Em? I know Shawn is!!!
12.08.04 (8:36 pm)   [edit]
Well, I think there has been enough interest to hold a poker tournament.  The Cornelius Invitational!!!  Or something like that.  Friday December 17th, 8pm.  All that read this are invited.  $20 buy in with 1st place taking 75%, 2nd - 15%, and 3rd - 10%.  Please post a little comment here if you are coming so I can get some estimates of what we need to plan for such as if some people may need to bring chairs and how many tables will need to be going.

Quote from ESPN Article
12.07.04 (9:49 pm)   [edit]

"Because steroid use wasn't banned until two years ago, it's inconceivable baseball would denote in its record book that Bonds might have used performance-enhancing drugs when he set the season home run record of 73 in 2001. And whether any revelations damage his chances to make the Hall of Fame will be determined only when the eligible baseball writers who vote make up their minds in several years."

Just the way it should be!

My View
12.03.04 (1:21 pm)   [edit]

Ok, so here are my thoughts on the BALCO situation:

Does this ruin everything that Bonds has done for the last 4 seasons?  No. Fact is that taking steroids does not help you put the bat on the ball.  That is the toughest thing to do in all of sports.  And not just to hit it, but hit it so perfectly for it to get out of the park.  If you don't hit the ball perfect, it's not getting out of the park, steroids or not.  You can't muscle a ball out of the park.  You can muscle one out of the infield, but not out of the park.

Lets not forget that steroids were not banned by baseball.  Maybe those of you who read this don't agree with my views....most of you actually.  Please leave any comments and I will address them in my next post.  Oh, and Matt, this news to me would be like you finding out that Bono lip sycs or something like that.

The trip to the track went well.  I didn't get any sleep for about 40 hours during the period.  Went up to Kent, WA to do some shooting for a show on Spike TV with the guys from Car and Driver.  It was awesome to see my friend's company really starting to boom and get his name out there.  I don't think my car actually got on tv though.  There were going to be 4 cars focused on, and one of them woul be mine, but for some reason it kinda dropped off when the time came.  Anyways though, it was fun, nobody was hurt, and only 1 small fire that got taken care of without any problems.  I did go up on the dragstrip against the other 2 cars they filmed; an 04 WRX owned by the guy from www.ipdusa.com and an 04 STI that has all the mods I have done to my car, but also a bigger intercooler and the STI turbo, which is bigger than mine.  Well, I beat them both pretty easily.  hahaha.  Didn't make the STI guy too happy.  Too bad for him, hahaha

Borrowed my friends Canon 20D that I was wanting in an earlier post.  Well, now I realy do want it.  I didn't think that the burst mode would have been that big of a deal........but it's huge.  My camera will only take 4 of them in a row.  This one you can hold down forever and it will keep snapping pics, and at a much quicker rate.  I will have some posted up here in a bit.  I was really happy.  The lens I was using was awesome too....i has image stabilizer built into it......DANG.
